I have a certain Mortgage Lender who I refer buyers to quite a bit. I always give 3 references, but he is my top choice of lenders. Why, because out of all the lenders I have worked with, and I have had the fortune to have work with some really great ones, he goes above and beyond to get the job done for me. I have known him to go the Court House to get copies of a divorce decree because my buyer was unable to locate hers and could not take time off from work. He has gone to elderly clients' homes to get paperwork signed, so they would not have to make the trip into his office.
It seems I always work with the first time home buyers who need a lot of hand-holding. Just recently was one of those situations and we were down to the wire and the needed documents promised by the buyer had not been dropped off. A flurry of phone calls ensued and the documents tracked down, I called the lender and said I would pick them up and deliver them to his office. And what he said was music to my ears "No, that is not your job - That is mine. - It is my responsibility to get the needed documents and get this loan closed on time. Just tell me were they are and I will get them." Now, I too feel a certain amount of responsibility to get the job done, and after a short conversation we agreed to meet half way.
The point of this is that is how it should be. Each of us working together in the best interest of the client. I know when one of my clients uses him; he will do everything in his power to get the job done. Instead of pointing fingers and saying it's not my job...We should all just do the job. Everyone. Realtors and Mortgage Lenders.
Best regards,
