This post is for my mom, she just recently found my blog, and read the whole thing. Now, she understands why I never call....seems like I'm always on the computer.
When I was very young for three years we lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Great place to raise a family, and I loved ever minute of it. I have fond memories of our time there. It is where I learn to ride a horse. There was a farm across the street from our house and my sister and I spent countless hours playing there, chasing the cows, and running away from the two killer ponies. For some reason, the mother and daughter ponies had very bad dispositions and chased anyone who came into their field, which my sister and I did quite often. Our dog would have to save us. Since Sam was a tiny little dog and he would nip at their tails, and then run under their legs. We where always afraid the ponies would kill him.
I remember the many rides in the back of the farm pick-up truck, as we went to check on the cattle. This was back in the days before people worried about children actually riding "in" cars and wearing a seatbelt. I saw cows giving birth and my first roadrunner, and it didn't look anything like the cartoon. I learned that baby chicks are cute, but grown chickens are mean. I held baby piglets and we chased the "wild cats", which where cats that hung around farm and who's diet consisted of mice. You could never catch the adults, but sometimes you where lucky and caught a kitten. Felt badly for my mother, for it wasn't usually mud she was washing off our clothes at the end of the day. I went to my first drive-in restaurant in Oklahoma and I always got a cherry slushes. I have never been to a drive-in restaurant since, must have been an Oklahoma thing.
Last night my mom called and told me about a country singer named Blake Shelton, from Oklahoma. He reminded her so much of our time there. Anyone who knows me know that I'm not a big country western fan, but I went and checked him out, and he bought back so many fond memories for me. Thanks, Mom. I enjoyed listening to him. So this video is for my mom. Enjoy.
